The Crusaders: “Street Life”
I’ve had this record for over three years (I know this because Vinyl Fever closed a little over three years ago), but I had never actually listened to it until this past week. I was surprised to recognize the first cut, “Street Life,” which was used in a scene in Jackie Brown and is a prime example of how fun and infectious late-‘70s disco could sometimes be. The rest of the album is somnambulistic proto-smooth jazz stuff that I couldn’t wait to stop listening to. Worth the sixty cents (thanks again, employee discount!) for “Street Life,” though.
